Singapore has expanded its smoking ban once again, treating its smoking citizens like outcasts and pushing them further away from the non-smoking society.

Starting June 1, smoking will be banned at reservoirs and over 400 parks islandwide, as well as all Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) camps and all Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) premises.

Senior Minister of State for the Environment and Water Resources Amy Khor delivered the hardline stance against smoking in Parliament yesterday in yet another step towards prohibiting it in all public areas.

Initially believed to be a forgotten segment of the society by the government, unwed mothers will finally get the benefits that married mums have enjoyed for years.

The Ministry of Social and Family Development are finally recognising unwed mothers by letting them qualify for government benefits, including access to social assistance, education and healthcare subsidies, as well as infant care and childcare subsidies. The benefits would apply to children born from early next year.

Previously entitled to only eight weeks of maternity leave, unwed mothers will soon be able to enjoy the full 16 weeks of government-paid maternity leave. Also, their children will also qualify for a Child Development Account — which should ease the financial burden of their parents due to the dollar-for-dollar matching in savings made by the parents.

Designed for children aged four and above, the space collaborates with 37 real-world brands (17 from Singapore) to build a life-sized city where little ones can experiment with various occupations and try out different activities to find their dream occupation. These include policemen, bankers, pizza makers, radio DJs, actors, pilots, firemen and more. Talk about starting young.

Tired of seeing folks abuse parking lot sreserved for handicapped drivers, Malaysian auditor Naren Narasiah took things into his own hands and confronted one such inconsiderate couple.

We're embarrassed to find out that the two folks he had to lecture were fellow Singaporeans.

In a video uploaded on the Champion4disability Facebook group, a clearly frustrated Naren is seen berating the apologetic couple, who he claims to have parked at the handicapped parking spot for 45 minutes.

According to him, he blocked their car from reversing, but got his truck knocked into when they did — and that's when his verbal wrath poured forth. The Singaporean couple could only blurt out feeble excuses in the face of Naren's booming voice of disapproval.

Sorry River Safari fans, a popular segment of the park is closed right now because it's sexytime.

The River Safari's Giant Panda Forest is only expected to reopen again tomorrow morning as they let Kai Kai and Jia Jia get it on in private (not really, vets and keepers will definitely be watching) for three days.

Both pandas have had their hormone levels monitored to determine when they'll be ready for mating season. Keepers have simulated a season change in the Giant Panda Forest by varying daylight hours and temperatures. They've also swapped exhibits and dens between Kai Kai and Jia Jia, so both of them can get a whiff of each other and be tempted to do the deed.
