What do you get when you put a Buddhist, a Taoist, a Christian, and an Atheist into one room and talk about religion? This multiple award-winning short film of course — The Longest-Distance Relationship. In an age where a growing number of young Singaporeans neither identify themselves as religious nor possess religious affiliations, it's a rare topic properly discussed between millenials.

That's where these four young friends came together to explore in depth — an introspective inquest into spirituality and themselves. Conflict, doubt and apprehension are par for the course clearly when it came to conversing about faith. Watch the full documentary on Viddsee below.

Fortune teller

From his makeshift stall at Block 102 along Yishun Avenue 5, a swindling fortune teller made his fortune by cheating two women out of over $40,000 of their money.

49-year-old temple medium Soh Kok Ping managed to gain the trust of one victim to part with $30,000, while persuading the other to donate $10,000 to his temple, Channel NewsAsia reports.

Lily Tan had been convinced of Soh's 'powers' when her wheelchair-bound husband's conditions improved after the fortune teller performed prayers for him. After confiding with him about financial troubles, Soh suggested that she pass him some gold jewellery so he could find out how much they were worth. Instead of doing so, he went ahead and pawned them out for $8,890 and kept the money for himself.

For those who regularly commute between Singapore and Malaysia, how would you like a new link to Johor Bahru? That's what the Sultan of Johor is proposing — a tunnel or bridge between the two borders to replace the current Causeway.

Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar expressed concern over the thousands who experience congestion on the Causeway daily, with some even giving up driving to make the trek on foot instead. Not to mention the fact that things tend to get worse on holidays and festive seasons.

He suggested for both countries to put aside their differences and think up solutions to upgrade existing structures, and urged the Malaysian Immigration Department to open up all available booths during holidays and peak hours.

This is especially so after a press release yesterday evening, where SMRT admitted that there were safety lapses that occured and lead to the deaths of 26-year-old Nasrulhudin Najumudin and 24-year-old Muhammad Asyraf Ahmad Buhari on Tuesday. The two trainees were hit and killed by an oncoming train on the tracks near Pasir Ris MRT station when during an investigation into a triggered monitoring device.

Oh hey, it's a new report on traffic. This summary by Dutch-based GPS provider TomTom studied congestion on 295 large city roads across the globe, and declared that Singapore's traffic congestion levels dropped last year, as compared to the year before.

We went from being the 38th most congested city in 2014 to the 45th in 2015, TODAY said.

More details showed that in 2015, drivers spent 50 percent extra time stuck in traffic during morning peak hours, and 59 percent during evening jams. All this came up to 126 hours of extra travel time a year — that's 126 hours of your life you'll never get back.

Despite it being freakin' 2016, some Singaporean folks still aren't on board with a pretty elementary concept called diversity.

As part of her world-spanning project, Romanian photographer Mihaela Noroc travelled across the globe capturing gorgeous portraits of women in their natural, native setting. Already having been featured by the likes of Oprah Winfrey, Forbes and more, The Atlas Of Beauty has been lauded as an alluring zenith of arts and humanities, showcasing the beauty of heterogeneity.

Bubble artist

Just for blowing bubbles in an underground MRT station, a bubble artist recently got detained by staff and eight police officers — a maddening experience that he captured on video and posted on Facebook by All Singapore Stuff

"These bubbles bring joy to people that are otherwise having a hard day," the caucasian man explains to the cops surrounding him.

"I've lived here for 14 years, I know the drill. I know the fact that being different is feared. It is. It's fear. People fear something different"

Dude is just really, really insistent that there's nothing wrong with blowing bubbles at the station. The police however were thrown off by his conviction and adult discussion about blowing little soap bubbles and eventually let him off.

Is this possibly a best kept secret? Someone on Facebook has spilled the beans on where to get your personal supply of perfumes, colognes, aftershaves and other fragrances for cheap — and it's all hidden in the industrial district of Jalan Rajah.

Nurul Ary claims that she managed to find a little-known treasure trove of wallet-friendly fragrances through a wholesaler which has a warehouse filled to the brim with all the branded perfumes you'd ever want. With prices way, way below standard retail, Bonjour Cosmetics (they've got a website too!) at Golden Wall Flatted Factory looks like it could be a one-stop shop for your sweet-smelling needs.

Health nuts unite — your many years of service staying away from the blasphemous carb-filled entity that is bread may be coming to an end thanks to one food scientist from the National University of Singapore.

Professor Zhou Weibiao might have found an end to our anti-gluten war against our puffy, wheaty staple. In what could be the first engineered super-food of the baked goods world, Zhou invented a new kind of bread that seems to be the greatest thing since sliced ones.

According to him, his newfangled purple bread (yep, literally purple in colour) is said to break down slower than regular milquetoasts; up to 20 percent slower in digestion rates. He claims that his purple bread is made entirely from natural compounds and is rich in cancer-fighting antioxidants, meaning we can enjoy stuffing our gobs without the bloat-y aftermath.

Even before receiving official news of SMRT trainee Muhammad Asyraf Ahmad Buhari's death on the tracks, some of his family members had already seen a gory close-up picture of his body, which was circulating across social media, forums and WhatsApp.

The image was definitely NSFW — depicting Muhammad Asyraf's body lying on the track near Pasir Ris MRT station after he was hit and killed by an oncoming train. The photograph itself was a screenshot of a police computer terminal, which also revealed the 24-year-old's full name and IC number.

Last Wednesday night, a tragedy occurred at Block 183, Jelebu Road, in Bukit Panjang. According to Lianhe Wanbao, a 13-year-old boy was wearing his Zhenghua Secondary School uniform when he allegedly jumped to his death around 10.30pm at an HDB block nearby. It is believed that he was not a resident of the housing estate.

Unsuspecting neighbours were shocked to hear of the incident — several of them thought the loud crash was a thrown object hitting the ground. Paramedics rushed to the scene, and pronounced him dead from his injuries. A few onlookers gathered at the area cordoned off by the police, but no one has come forward with information on what happened or why the student was found near his school so late at night.

Investigations are underway.

LKY commemoration

As the overly done tributes, honours and commemorations for Lee Kuan Yew fizzled out (luckily we had this Chrome extension on), it seems like the icon's daughter herself thinks it's all a bit too much.

On Good Friday — a day after the first anniversary of her father's death — Dr Lee Wei Ling wrote a post on her Facebook page, stating that he would have cringed at all the hero worship. She had winced in response to an art installation featuring Lee Kuan Yew's face outlined by 4,887 Singapore flag erasers — and noted how her father would not approve of "excessive, unnatural displays of emotion".

Kinoshita Yuka is a Japanese Youtube star (and competitive eater) famous for posting videos of herself wolfing down insane amounts of food — all in one go. She's feasted on stuff like 100 packets of mochi (each cooked a different way), 4kg of katsu curry with rice, three entire birthday cakes, and two jars of cookie butter spread on a towering stack of sliced bread.

But it's her latest endeavour that got Singaporeans talking. Thanks to a Taiwanese fan who sent her packets of Singapore laksa instant noodles, she took up the challenge and added shrimp, eggs, onion and seaweed to her gigantic bowl, which weighed in at 4.3kg.

Times Square

A year on since the death of his father and predecessor, it's statesmanly work as usual for Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong who arrived in New York City yesterday as part of his seven-day working trip.

Since he arrived, he's checked Times Square, Brooklyn Bridge Park and even The High Line — the popular elevated park built on a disused railroad — with his wife, taking pictures with presumably disgruntled New Yorkers. The prime minister also met up with Singaporeans based the city, catching up with them over laksa, chicken rice and satay, according to Channel NewsAsia
