Post-rock outfit Tortoise will be playing at the Aliwal Arts Centre on May 13.
Formed in Chicago in 1990, Tortoise's almost entirely instrumental music — heavily influenced by dub, electronica, jazz, Krautrock and minimalist music styles rather than the standard rock and roll and punk — is regarded by some as the driving force behind the rise of post-rock.
Currently working on their seventh studio album after 2009's Beacons of Ancestorship, with tracks such as "High Class Slim Came Floatin' In" (watch video below), the band will stop in Singapore as part of an Asian tour.
Tickets at $55 are available via EventClique.
