An assistant manager at Artisan Boulangerie Compagnie (ABC), who had called for customers to vote on what could've have happened to the missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 using tipping cups, has resigned.
Each tipping cup had been illustrated to represent the fate the Boeing 777 could've faced — one showed it cruising in the sky with a caption 'Still Alive!' and the other displayed the tail of a diving aircraft. The photo of the two tipping cups (below) was uploaded by Facebook user Robert Gaxiola, first on his personal page and later onto the company's, which has five Singapore branches.
On March 20 the company wrote:
A highly insensitive and gross misconduct by a member of our staff at Asia Square has occurred.
ABC would like to publicly and unreservedly apologize for this appalling personal action by our employee at our premises. We want to emphasize that ABC holds its culture and its employees to the utmost ethical standards and we expect all within our establishment to conduct themselves with outstanding professionalism and integrity. The misconduct by our employee is highly offensive and distasteful.
We are absolutely disgusted and have without hesitation accepted the individual's resignation. ABC's owners are personally conducting further internal investigations and enforcing disciplinary actions. We assure our customers that ABC exercises zero tolerance for any such gross lack of compassion and wrongdoing.
