Here's yet another SG50 recordbreaker next to babies and a horse born on National Day — the most number of tweets related to a one-day event in Singapore.
Imagine: 100,000 tweets were posted about One Direction when they played Singapore on Mar 11. SG50 generated more than double that — beyond 230,000 tweets.
Channel NewsAsia, citing data released by Twitter, reports that "there were 570 tweets sent per minute as it neared 8.30pm, just as the Parade culminated in a massive fireworks display."
Twitter counted hashtags like #SG50, #NDP2015 as well as other terms related to the Parade — Majulah Singapura and Golden Jubilee, Lee Kuan Yew, Lee Hsien Loong, and NDP performers Kit Chan and JJ Lin, according to the CNA report.
