Speaking of Singaporean babies being born on National Day, here's another welcome addition, this time to the animal population. Singapore Polo Club said the unplanned arrival — "much like Singapore's independence"— of a filly happened at 4:30am on Aug 9. The mother is club pony Estrella."Estrella arrived in Singapore at the end of July from Argentina and has been quietly acclimatizing since then. Inspected on arrival, professional polo player Sattar Khan commented she looked pregnant, club vet Dr Shetty agreed and had arranged a scan after the public holidays," according to the club's Facebook post.
