Another day, another inconsequential Singapore record broken in the name of SG50. This time, the record for the largest display of paper butterflies was smashed yesterday evening, with a total of 78,500 of those things were crafted at the Inter Racial Inter Religious Harmony Nite.
Channel NewsAsia reports that over 2,000 guests — including religious leaders, members of the public and foreign diplomats from 21 countries — gathered to celebrate Singapore's diversity, and also broke fast together with Muslims observing the month of Ramadan.
Why butterflies though? Apparently, the arthropod's "graceful flight represents the harmony that Singaporeans enjoy", which sounds exactly as absurd and farcical as it sounds like.
Meanwhile, Chinese Privilege continues to trample everything in its path.
