steamboIt's been months since the freak explosion at the Beach road hotpot restaurant left five patrons in hospital with serious burns, and apparently the restaurant has yet to compensate its wounded customers, despite promises to do so.  A report by The Sunday Times revealed that one of the injured patrons — 39-year-old Linda Er — has spent around $11,000 in medical bills so far, and has yet to see a dime from Chong Qing (Original) Old Steamboat, the restaurant where the incident took place in April.  Er, along with four other patrons suffered burns when a gas stove exploded, expelling boiling hot soup on their faces and bodies. The restaurant has since switched to electric stoves, and still packs a crowd daily.  The restaurant owner did visit them in hospital and did promise to be responsible for the medical bills, but that was over three months ago. Er visited the eatery a couple of weeks back, but the owner was not around.  Today, she still has to make weekly trips to the hospital for check-ups and she might require further skin grafting. Doctors have mentioned that her wounds would take two to three years to heal completely — and it's all due to one unfortunate night out eating steamboat with friends.  Er has hired a lawyer, who has sent letters to the director of the eatery Phee Ser Guan. Phee mentioned that the case is being handed over to their insurance company to settle. All these hotpots and still their hearts remain cold.  Photo: @KarenKing_07 via Twitter
