colorful powderTo further diminish the fears over any major accidents during the upcoming Color Run event in Sentosa, both the Singapore Police Force (SPF) and the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) will be assessing the safety of using their coloured powder before it goes on this September.  With participants expected to reach up to 18,000 this year, they're really pulling out all the stops when it comes to safety. Especially since over 500 people were injured and one died from a recent blaze in Taiwan's Formosa Fun Coast Water Park after coloured corn starch powder used during their Color Play Asia event caught fire and exploded into a fireball in midair. One Singaporean casualty has been flown back to Singapore and received further treatment in Singapore General Hospital.  Even though Color Run organisers have assured folks that they are in no way associated with Color Play Asia, and that their powder used have passed the required EU standards and tests for flammability, it looks like both SPF and SCDF wants to ensure another layer of safety with their involvement.  “We will assess all safety aspects associated with the use of coloured powder, before granting any approval for the Color Run or other similar events," they mentioned in a joint statement.  Photo: The Color Run Singapore Facebook page
