The very public spat between the current Malaysian prime minister Najib Razak and former leader Mahathir Mohamad rages on, and the latest round in the war of words drags in the alleged issue of marginalised Malays in Singapore.
The latest verbal attack launched by Dr. Mahathir was delivered at a closed-door forum with several non-governmental organisations at the Perdana Foundation Last Wednesday, again strongly maintaining his stance that Prime Minister Najib Razak should resign to protect the interests of Malays in the country, TODAY reports.
According to the senior statesman, Prime Minister Najib would lead the ruling Barisan Nasional coalition to ruin in the next federal polls, leading to the marginalisation of the Malay community similar to those in Singapore, southern Thailand and other places.
Another former minister, Zaid Ibrahim, however disagrees with Dr. Mahathir's point, insisting that Najib's leadership would push Malays in Malaysia towards a repressive Taliban-like ruling instead of being marginalized.
