A young Singapore Armed Forces regular has been sentenced to six months in prison and three strokes of the cane yesterday for being a total perv when he molested a student at a multi-storey carpark.
22-year-old Jonathan Tan Weng Keong admitted to feeling up an 18-year-old student at Block 146A Rivervale Crescent in April last year, The Straits Times reports.
Tan had bought some cigarettes at a convenience store at Rivervale Mall around 1am, when he saw the victim walking towards the carpark and decided to follow her.
The teen, who was still clad in her school uniform, then sat on a kerb. Tan approached her from behind and touched her head before bending down and groped the teen's private parts over her shorts. He fled when she started screaming.
Three days later, he was arrested outside Jurong Army Camp.
In court, Tan's lawyer maintained that his client was truly remorseful and ashamed over his impulsive act of crime. He could have been jailed for up to two years and/or caned.
