Unlike other cooking contests on television, ninja skills in the kitchen are not the only thing you'll need to get into Food Hero, a region-wide talent search for exceptional home cooks and aspiring presenters.
You'll also need charm, beauty, and the gift of gab, which last year's winners Sarah Benjamin and Michele Lean have lots of. In return, you get to star in a cooking show, possibly your own.
The search starts for cooks for its second edition in May and interested participants need to sign up this early for the competition's mailing list so you can receive updates before the official search starts on May 11.
You'll then need to download the Food Hero app and upload video entries of you preparing and presenting a culinary dish or introducing your favourite dishes.
Five promising entries will be shortlisted by the Asian Food Channel and Food Network team based on their personality, on-screen appeal and their ability to create engaging and creative content. The shortlisted entries will subsequently participate in a series of online culinary and travel-themed challenges.
Four finalists will then be selected and flown to Singapore to compete against each other in challenges that will showcase their hosting and cooking ability. The performance in these challenges will finally determine who will be Asia’s new Food Heroes.
Two winners will be announced in September 2015. There were 270 applicants last year.
