![Video: RSAF pilot recounts challenges faced while flying to Nepal and back with evacuees]()
A contingency of personnel from the Singapore Armed Forces, the Singapore Civil Defence Force and the Singapore Police Force have been hard at work in their relief efforts in earthquake-torn Nepal, and yesterday was a very happy day for many after stranded Singaporeans touched down back home at Paya Lebar Airbase to the relief of their families.
Major Sean Yang of the Republic of Singapore Air Force, who flew the first C-130 plan ferrying the Singaporean passengers back here, recounts about the rough conditions and other challenges that he faced in Kathmandu in a call with Minister for Defence Dr. Ng Eng Han.

Sean told me about the challenges they encountered – crowded airfield, and tough landing conditions amid bad weather. When I thanked him, he said "No problem, Sir. We were just doing our job, all of us were." I think this will be an unforgettable episode in his professional career.- Ng Eng Hen#NepalQuakeReliefThe Republic of Singapore Air Force

The 89 Singaporeans and permanent residents who were evacuated from Nepal safely arrived in Paya Lebar Airbase yesterday, while 10 are still listed as missing.

Logistics issues, long delays, diversions and challenging terrain are all part of the landscape in humanitarian assistance missions. Our SAF men and women have been conditioned to expect the unexpected and still get the mission done. But when they saw the smiles of family members waiting at Paya Lebar Air Base, it was all worthwhile. To protect Singaporeans here and to bring them home safe is why we serve. Welcome home. - Ng Eng Hen#NepalQuakeReliefThe Republic of Singapore Air Force
