Is he fit to be a father someday?
The case against Franklie Tan Guang Wei, 24, who shoved his girlfriend's one-year-old baby off a bed slighly over a month ago, has been adjourned to May 25 as the court awaits medical report on the victim, who allegedly suffered serious head injuries.
Tan, who appeared in court yesterday, is out on a $10,000 cash bail, with a $10,000 non-cash bail, and had been ordered to surrender his passport and not have any contact with either the baby or its mother.
Tan's girlfriend is reported to be pregnant with his child.
It had been argued that Tan has anger management issues, but an assessment by the Institute of Mental Health found that Tan may have his cray-cray moments, but is not of unsound mind and fit to plea.
He is the sole breadwinner in a low-income family. Charges against Tan will be amended should the boy's condition worsen. According to ChannelNews Asia, the boy is still in hospital.
