Japanese all-girl alternative rock band Tricot returning for Singapore show in MayJapanese all-girl alternative rock band Tricot caused a righteous ruckus the last time they were here, when they played at the former Home Club last year to a fully packed crowd, who somehow knew the words to every one of their songs despite, you know, them singing in Japanese and all.  Luckily for those who missed out on them, the Kyoto-based outfit will be returning to our shores in May at The Substation armed with tunes from their brand new album A N D, released just last month.  Despite their waif-like demeanour, there is nothing dainty and cutesy at all to their music. Outstanding in their technical skills as musicians, which can blow any dude's instrumental mastery out of the water, the talented trio craft intricate, complex rhythms and pair it with soaring, emotional vocals.  On stage, their elaborate tunes take on a more rousing stratum with the same vibrant energy that they've showcased during their numerous shows across Europe. The fact that they're easy on the eyes too doesn't really matter — they just rock that hard.  Thanks to KittyWu Records, Tricot will be playing live in Singapore once again at The Substation on May 31 together with local instrumental outfit Sphaeras as special guests. Tickets available on Peatix at $45 or $50 at the door — stay updated on the Facebook event page.  Photo: tricot Facebook page
