1 SCDF personnel sent to NUH for heat exhaustion after battling hours-long factory fire at Joo KoonProving that the rowdy numbskulls in that viral videoclip are just a minority in the vocation, the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) proved to be total selfless heroes yesterday morning when a huge-ass blaze took place at a factory along Joo Koon Crescent.   They were alerted to the fire at 6.40am. The SCDF deployed seven fire engines, three light fire attacking vehicles, nine support vehicles, three unmanned firefighting machines and an ambulance due to the large scale of the inferno.  The fire engulfed contents such as paper products and automobile parts within two factory units, covering an area of about half a football field. It took half an hour for the firefighters to bring the fire under control, and it was only around 2pm that the fire was completely extinguished. Around 80 SCDF personnel were involved in the firefighting operation, and one of them was sent to National University Hospital after suffering from heat exhaustion. That's dedication right there.  The SCDF's director of public affairs Colonel Abdul Razak even took some time out to speak to reporters about the highly controversial videoclip that has spread across social media in the last few days. The clip shows a group of newly promoted firefighting sergeants thrashing their dormitories. "As you can see from today's fire at Joo Koon Crescent, this is what we do day in, day out, putting ourselves in harm's way, taking calculated risks to mitigate incidents, to minimise damage to property and to save lives", he remarked to reporters at the scene yesterday.  Photo: SCDF Facebook page
