Man arrested for pretending to be a policeman and stealing valuables from female victims Try harder next time, bud. A 36-year-old man has been arrested over his involvement in a series of police impersonation cases, where he pretended to be a cop and steal from women he stopped to inspect.  Police received reports of a man acting as a plainclothes policeman and stealing from victims across the eastern districts of Singapore including HDB estates in Sims Drive, Geylang East and Aljunied Crescent. Over $2,500 worth of cash, jewellery and handphones were stolen by the man. The female victims reported that he would approach them at isolated locations and identify himself as a police officer, flashing a card with his picture and a police logo. He would then check their belongings and make away with their valuables.  Following intensive investigations, the suspect's identity was established and he was arrested on Monday in the vicinity of Merpati Road.  He will be charged in court today. If convicted, he faces up to three years and/or a fine.  Photo: Victor via Flickr
