Bad news, smokers — smoking could be banned in more locations if Second Minister for the Environment and Water Resources Grace Fu gets her way.
A consultation session at the Singapore Management University was held last Saturday between the Government and stakeholders including non-governmental organisations, healthcare professionals, former smokers and current ones, Channel NewsAsia reports.
Among the suggestions thrown included enclosed areas for smoking and — get this — banning smoking for those born after year 2000. Social engineering much?
In the Government's efforts into making the nation eventually smoke free (LOL), they've piloted an initiative at Nee Soon South last year where smokers can only light up in six designated areas in the neighbourhood. With the success of the campaign, it would be likely that there'll be more places that'll have smoking severely restricted.
