Hopefully Amos Yee was full from eating that banana when he arrived in court for his pre-trial conference earlier this afternoon — he won't be getting a nice meal when he spends a night in remand.
The 16-year-old faces new conditions for bail after he allegedly flouted his initial bail conditions when he posted on his blog calling for public donations.
His initial bail had been set at $20,000 under the condition that he does not post, upload or distribute comment or content online while the case against him is ongoing. Yesterday, a Lionel De Souza filed a police report against Yee, whom he alleges to have reproduced contents of his tirade against late statesman Lee Kuan Yew and offensive remarks about Christianity in his latest blogpost.
Under the new bail conditions, several posts on his blog that relate to the the graphic imagery of the late Lee Kuan Yew and Margaret Thatcher have to be made private, as well as the YouTube video that launched him into public scorn. He will also have to take down the post calling for public fundraising as it is a breach of private content, Channel NewsAsia reports. Yee will also have to report to his Investigation Officer at Bedok Police Station every day at 9am.
He will be spending at least a night in remand prison, as his parents refused to post bail for him. He should be able make it through the night.
