A gelato flavor inspired by the Little Red Dot's golden anniversary won the top award at Gelato World Tour 2.0.
Held over the weekend at Marina Bay Sands Convention Centre, 16 flavours from Singapore and Asia-Pacific countries were in competition.
Three winning flavours were selected to vie for the title of World’s Best Gelato in a contest to be held in Italy. Good Ol' Days by Sharon Tay of Momolato ranked number one.
The flavor, especially crafted for the competition, uses coconut milk, fresh milk and palm sugar. Ribbons of gula melaka add texture as do honey-caramelized tofu skin that's used as a topping.
Yesterday, the gelato shop decided to dedicate its victory, and the flavour, to Singapore's founding father."We would like to dedicate this to Mr. Lee Kwan Yew," it said on Facebook. "The extraordinary leader who gave us the good old days and the true visionaire who laid solid groundwork for the future. Thank you for dedicating your lifetime to Singapore."
Momolato starts serving Good Ol' Days from Mar 30.
