There's a time and place for everything — and for those who want to drop off cards and flowers for former Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew, the time is now, and the place is at the quadrangle outside Singapore General Hospital's Block 7.
Lee has been warded since Feb 5 at SGH's Intensive Care Unit.
The Prime Minister's Office has been issuing daily updates of his health condition since March 17 when it announced that Lee's health had begun taking antibiotics because his condition had worsened due to an infection. He was warded for pneumonia.
On March 18, an update announcing that Lee's condition had "deteriorated further" triggered a lot of posts on social media, mostly from people wishing the founder of modern Singapore a speedy recovery. Alarmed by the update, some people and reporters also trooped to the SGH lobby that night.
When Coconuts Singapore checked out the hospital yesterday, there was no longer a crowd, but a few reporters were still around.
