![10 years jail for 64-year-old katana-wielding attacker]()
An elderly 64-year-old man will be spending the next 10 years in prison for attacking his neighbour with a katana, as well as drug consumption and trespassing.
In June last year, Abdul Rahman armed himself with a chopper and katana measuring 32 cm in blade-length before forcing his way into 41-year-old Yun Yew Lee's neighbouring flat, slashing Lee's forearm. They had been arguing about a $50 loan that Lee gave Abdul, The New Paper reports.
Though Abdul had pleaded guilty last year, he failed to turn up for sentencing in November and was arrested again. It was during this time that his urine sample was found to contain morphine.
In court yesterday, the elder man was jailed for 10 years after pleading guilty to one count each of voluntarily causing hurt with a dangerous weapon, trespassing and drug consumption.
He escaped caning due to his age.
