Little tiffs among career bloggers are usually as inconsequential and asinine as the bloggers themselves, but prominent blogger Xiaxue's latest exposé on her numero uno target Gushcloud seems to have dragged the three major telcos — Singtel, Starhub, M1 — into the trivial fracas, and will probably launch an official investigation by the Information Development Authority of Singapore (IDA).
Xiaxue's second chapter in her big expose on social media agency Gushcloud (which we really couldn't be fucked to summarise in full) was published last Saturday and one particular damning allegation puts Singtel on the spot — the telco had allegedly asked Gushcloud to launch a smear campaign against rival telcos M1 and Starhub.
Plus, the influencers will be getting significant rewards should the campaign be successful with sponsored monthly phone bills, free mobile data and VIP tickets to events.
According to various media reports, Singtel clarified that they did not issue the damning brief, though they did admit to working with Gushcloud in June last year.
Gushcloud, however, has come out on a Facebook post to admit to preparing the internal brief for their influencers. Apparently the brief was "not meant to be read in isolation without the full context and verbal briefings".
(function(d, s, id) { var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0]; if (d.getElementById(id)) return; js = d.createElement(s); js.id = id; js.src = "//connect.facebook.net/en_GB/all.js#xfbml=1"; fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs);}(document, 'script', 'facebook-jssdk'));
Post by Gushcloud.
StarHub and M1 however are absolutely fuming over the alleged dick move. Both operators are reported to be deeply disturbed over the revelations and have taken up the matter with Singtel and are engaging with IDA about the issue.
Damn bloggers.
