Over 50 people showed up at the Ministry of Manpower building this morning to lodge complaints over unpaid wages — all of whom are employees at several establishments in the Clarke Quay district.
Speaking to The Straits Times, they mentioned that they have not received their wages since Feb 7.
The employees work at outlets managed by Cannery Holding, a company owned by nightlife group Lifebrandz. Establishments such as Aquanova Restaurant & Bar, Mulligan's Irish Pub, Fenix Room and nightclub Dream are owned by the group.
On Monday, they were informed that they would be paid their February salaries, but were not given a definite date, while a staff member also remarked that it would be unlikely for them to receive their wages for this month.
Lifebrandz has yet to issue any statement about the matter.
