Housewife sustains broken arm following bus driver's sudden brakingSure it's annoying when bus drivers jam their brakes hard, but no one expects to break some limbs over bad driving. For 45-year-old housewife Nurlaili Rubamis however, she was just plain unlucky when she actually broke her forearm on the bus following a particularly hard brake.  According to The New Paper, Nurlaili was about to alight when the bus slammed hard to a stop, causing her to fall to the floor and hit her right arm on a handrail back in January.  The driver actually braked unexpectedly twice causing her to lose her balance and fall down badly, prompting some of the passengers to come to her aid as she alighted the bus. Initially thinking nothing of the pain, the aching grew so bad after a while that she couldn't even lift her arm. Fortunately for her, Khoo Teck Puat Hospital was just a 10-minute walk away from the bus stop in Yishun. An X-ray revealed a serious fracture on her forearm and she had to undergo an emergency surgery that very evening.  The surgery left her with 15 stitches on her right forearm and two screws at her wrist to hold the inserted metal plate in place.  After she was discharged, she went straight to a nearby police centre to make a report. While the police are conducting investigations, she has made an appeal for eyewitnesses on her Facebook page.  SMRT are also investigating into the matter, and have apologised to her about the accident.
