Aside from a huge drug haul of cannabis, meth and Ecstasy pills, the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) seized two katanas and a machete from a local drug trafficker in their latest bust.
CNB officers were deployed in the vicinity of Geylang Lorong 37 on the afternoon of Feb 23 to conduct a stakeout on a 34-year-old male Singaporean, a suspecteddrug trafficker who was believed to be awaiting a fresh consignment of cannabis.
It was around 4.20pm (how apt) that CNB officers spotted another drug runner arriving around the location in a van. He left a brown cardboard box beside a dustbin along Lorong 37 before driving away.
The drug trafficker then appeared in a car later on, picking up the cardboard box from the drop site and driving off soon after.
He was later intercepted along Geylang Road, where officers found five bricks of cannabis weighing 5kg in total, 164g of meth, 137 Ecstasy tablets, 101 Erimin-5 tablets, a digital weighing scale, drug paraphernalia and cash amounting to $26,000. His love for bladed weaponry was crushed when officers also seized two samurai swords and a machete from his car. Very gangsta.
The 45-year-old drug runner who made the drop was arrested at a petrol kiosk in the vicinity of Ipoh Lane, where officers also recovered a small packet of meth on him.
If convicted for drug trafficking, they may face the death sentence.
