Eight Brit schools dropped from list of recognised institutions for admission to Singapore Bar In an effort to cut down the overabundance of practising lawyers, the Ministry of Law has trimmed down the list of UK universities recognised for the purposes of the admission to the Singapore Bar.  The recommendations set by the Singapore Institute of Legal Education effectively revises the list of UK Overseas Scheduled Universities to only 11 institutions, which will be implemented for prospective intakes from the academic year 2016/2017 onwards.  The University of Exeter, University of Leeds, University of Leicester, University of Liverpool, University of London's School of Oriental and African Studies, University of Manchester, University of Sheffield and the University of Southampton have been dropped from the recommended list.  Transitional provisions will be put in place to ensure that those who've secured a place before the relevant cut-off date in any of the omitted UK universities will not be adversely affected by the change.
