The newly-refurbished Capitol Theatre along Stamford Road will get an appropriately historic inauguration with the first show that'll premiere at the distinguished venue come May 19 — Singapura: The Musical.
The musical, which reportedly costs $2.7 million to produce and was three years in the making, aims to showcase Singapore's formative years from 1955 to 1965 from the eyes of ordinary Singaporeans, touching on the nation's independence and other events, Channel NewsAsia reports.
Produced by The 4th Wall Theatre Company, the musical will star a mix of Singaporean and Filipino talents, and is helmed by Broadway veteran Greg Ganakas while celebrated composer Ed Gatchalian was tasked as musical director.
Singapura: The Musical will be held at the Capitol Theatre from May 19 to June 28; tickets will go on sale from Feb 17 onwards at $65, $85, $135 and $165. More details available on the official website.
