A 52-year-old Singaporean man was involved in an alleged knife attack last Saturday in Lombok, Indonesia, leaving him dead from multiple stab wounds.
Ahmad Suri, a deputy general manager of an engineering company with a branch in Mataram City, had been based in Lombok for the past two years, living in a gated community with two other colleagues.
According to The New Paper, he was alone at home on the night he was attacked. After hearing cries for help by passers-by, the estate's chief gathered several neighbours and confronted the knife-wielding assailant, who surrendered his weapon.
Indonesian media reported that the attacker — a 35-year-old man by the name of Parto — went to Ahmad's house to visit his wife and child who were staying there. The wife is believed to be a maid at the house. A quarrel followed, and Ahmad tried to intervene, but Parto turned violent and stabbed him multiple times.
Covered in blood, Ahmad was carried into a taxi and sent to a hospital, a half hour drive away. Suffering from seven stab wounds on his face, neck and chest, Ahmad succumbed to his wounds on the way there.
Family members have since flew to Lombok to claim his body and buried him in Singapore.
