Netizens have been up in arms over paramedics' purported sluggishness when responding to the jogger who collapsed on Tuesday morning along Woodlands Drive — but what they didn't realise is that the passer-by performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on the jogger is a paramedic himself.

A reader on The Real Singapore used the platform to express his misplaced dismay over Singapore Civil Defence Officers (SCDF) not displaying urgency to attend to the casualty — even filing a complaint letter to the agency. Others jump to conclusions as well, casting stones through Facebook comments, all of whom are somehow disappointed that SCDF personnel seemed not to care about the emergency.
However, all the critics and keyboard warriors only realized that they shot themselves in the foot when the SCDF revealed that the fainted jogger was receiving medical attention from the start — that man in the video performing CPR was actually an off-duty SCDF paramedic on his way to work. He had even administered two shocks with an Automated External Defibrillator as part of the resuscitation procedure before the ambulance arrived.

The SCDF posted on their Facebook page reporting the full details of the incident, clearing any doubts of competence. It must be remembered that it was due to the efforts of the SCDF personnel — and not the caustic words of keyboard warriors — that ensured that the patient is currently recovering in Khoo Teck Phuat hospital. According to The New Paper, he even wants to meet his rescuers to show appreciation for their help.
Shame on you, internet assholes.
