Hotel WiFi Test, which measures the availability and quality of in-room WiFi, has placed Singapore in the 12th spot of a world city ranking.
Tokyo and Hong Kong placed 3rd and 10th respectively, making Singapore the third Asian city in the ranking.
The report based this on two things: the percentage of hotels in a specific geographical area that offered adequate Wi-Fi speeds (minimum download and upload speed of at least 3 mbps and 500 kbps respectively) and the ratio of hotels that offered complimentary in-room WiFi.
WiFi in the more communal areas of a hotel, as well as cities and countries where an insufficient number of hotels had been tested, were not considered in the analysis.
South Korea was named top in the world in terms of WiFi quality, with 92 percent of hotels tested providing adequate WiFi speeds and 73.8 percent providing free in-room WiFi.
