Man faces jail for lying to get daughter into top schoolA 35-year-old man, whose name cannot be revealed to protect his daughter's identity, pleaded guilty in court yesterday of giving false information to a school principal.  His reason? He wanted to get his daughter into the primary school, a reputable institution located in the central area of Singapore.  A separate charge of giving false information to a police officer will also be taken into consideration during sentencing, The New Paper reports.  Applicants residing within a 1km to 2km zone from the school are given priority under the Primary 1 phase 2C registration. The man had claimed he lived within the zone and even produced identification with the said address.  In reality, an American man holds the lease to the property and has agreements to live there through 2016.  The faux was revealed when officers from the Minister of Education conducted a house visit in December last year.  The case has been adjourned to Feb. 3.  If convicted, the girl's father faces up to a year in jail and a maximum $5,000 fine.
