Consumers will soon enjoy a tool for tracking their energy and water usage at home, if this pilot scheme by SP Services is successful.
The Singapore Power subsidiary worked with the Energy Market Authority (EMA) and the Public Utilities Board (PUB) to produce the SP Services Mobile App, currently available only to 310,000 consumers who'd registered for an online utilities account by Sep. 14 last year.
Those selected for the closed beta will have all been contacted by Jan. 16, 2015 — they'll get to test the app through April.
The results will then be garnered and studied to determine if and when the app should be rolled out nationwide.
Among the functionalities of the app are the ability to update, open or close a utilities account, check historical bills and payment details, as well as track electricity and water usage. Some households may even compare their numbers against the national average and the average of neighbours within the block, via the SP Services online portal.
The SP Services Mobile App also contains tips on conservation, plus an e!Chat function.
