Singapore-based travel booking website HalalTrip has launched a mobile app that allows users to find halal eateries around the world, among other Muslim-centric features.
The app — available on iOS and Android phones — offers the Halal Food Spotter feature, where users can find and recommend halal dishes by location, and a navigation map to the restaurant location.
The HalalTrip app also includes capabilities such as an in-flight prayer calculator, which alerts users on in-flight prayer schedules and the direction of the Ka'aba, where Muslims have to face when performing their prayers. A collection of Islamic travel du'a (supplication) is also provided for travellers.
According to the app's owners Crescentrating Pte Ltd, the halal-friendly travel market is increasingly becoming a key segment for the travel industry, with expectations for the market worth to grow to US $200 billion by 2020.
