In 2010, Ms. Emmeline Ang sold the Louis Vuitton handbag she saved up for to pay for her first cosmetic surgery in Thailand. Since then, she's also visited experts in Korea for a variety of procedures, including dimple creation, fat grafting and liposuction.
Ms. Ang shares the technical aspect of her experiences on her blog Miss Lemonade, a platform she hopes might be a comprehensive first-person resource for women who want to go down that path, but in a recent interview with Working with Grace, the 30-year-old really opened up about her feelings towards plastic surgery, nine procedures later.
In the interview, she warned those interested in going under the knife against doing it for the wrong reasons.
One of the reasons: Wanting to look naturally perfect. "One of my readers became really gorgeous after her nose job, but went and removed the silicon after because though she looked more beautiful, people could tell her nose had been surgically enhanced," Ang said. "If you want a natural-looking, no-trace-of-surgery look, don't go for plastic surgery. It's not going to happen."

Ang also described how many women below the age of 23 are unsure about what they really want. She reminded them not to jump on the bandwagon without thinking it through and to not take "amazing transformations" they see in magazines and on TV lightly. "What they do not know is that these TV programs show the ‘before and after’ but not the 9 months in-between! When your face starts swelling beyond recognition, you just might be unable to accept it. A girl in Korea committed suicide because of this reason!"

And here's a piece of advice she feels really strongly about: don't set your expectations too high. Ms. Ang, who's a single mother, says this in the interview but also several times on her blog. "Don’t go in with a lot of expectations or you’ll feel disappointed. You won’t emerge as another person! Plastic surgery is just for enhancement!”
She also said that successful plastic surgery relies on two things: luck and a good surgeon, but even then there are risks. "A good doctor can have fail jobs, too!" she said.
