SportsHub relents to implementing full grass pitch in National StadiumAfter months of trouble concerning the subpar pitch at the refurbished National Stadium, SportsHub has now decided that they'll be replacing the hybrid turf with one that's fully grass.  TODAY reports that a new grass pitch will be grown at a nursery first before being laid on top of the current pitch just in time for the SEA Games to take place in June next year. While the current Desso GrassMaster Turf has proven to be playable, it would take a long time to anchor and sink roots — inadequate for intensive multi-purpose usage.  SportsHub has mentioned that another pitch will be maintained at the nursery as well to be used to replace the first one when worn out by excessive wear and tear. The company will be bearing the full cost of the overhaul.  Turf company Motz Group will be ensuring that the turf can be rolled up and transported to the National Stadium in optimal conditions, and will be playable immediately after laying — a successful adoption in many other stadiums that have hosted major events including the Rugby World Cup and Sydney Olympic games.  Photo: Singapore Sports Hub Facebook
