Today is a red-letter day for hundreds of Singapore Airlines (SIA) passengers, who'd bought Business Class tickets at Economy prices last week due to an error made on the booking system used internationally by travel agents.
Reversing an earlier decision to collect the difference in fares or offer a refund, the airline is now honouring the seats, each purchased for at least $2,000 cheaper than selling price.
In a statement today, SIA said it would be contacting affected customers and travel agents to let them know of the new 'arrangement'.
The number of passengers affected is 400 instead of the earlier reported 900, but at least 1,000 sectors are involved in the error, according to SIA.
