Lindsay Ferrier recently jumped on the bandwagon of quirky Asian online shopping — she found a website with a weird name (NastyDress) and questionable presence, got bought over by the cutesy coats and unbelievable prices (under USD40 each and free overseas shipping), and placed a generous order.
Sounds like a regular day in the life of a Qoo10 shopper, right? Many of us know that spending a mere $30 on a coat has its consequences — the sleeves are tighter than expected, the peplum more frayed than frilly. But the extent of this top American blogger mum's bad luck is at SMH level, and her reaction to it? Priceless.
Take a look at what she was expecting to receive VS. what she actually got in the mail:
Not only was this "Large" size "woollen gray coat" actually made of fleece, it was "cut for a person with no boobs" and "the sleeves ended far above (the) wrists". Next.
Dafuq, right? "How could this possibly be the dress I had seen in the photo? The 'skirt' portion was only about two inches long! The only explanation was that the model was the size of an American Girl Doll!" was Ferrier's reaction.
If you thought that was bad, check this out:
Ferrier said she liked the left "fantastic head-to-toe look" so much she Pinned it, but the coat turned out to be more of a shrug — "that model had to have been what, THREE FEET TALL?"
To add salt to the wound, Ferrier'd called her 10-year-old daughter Punky into the room to see how she'd look in the outfits.
Needless to say, she got the whole lot.
Ever since her blog post on Nov. 21, Ferrier has received many comments from netizens in Singapore, many of whom insist local blog shops offer quality products and service. Extra digging also reveals NastyDress is actually registered in Shenzhen, China and not Singapore.
