![Seletar Airport to be torn down and rebuilt to support increasing air traffic]()
Changi Airport’s lesser known sibling Seletar Airport will soon be demolished and rebuilt again in a bid to increase Singapore’s position as an aviation hub.
Straits Times reported earlier today that the Seletar Airport will go through a complete overhaul starting next year in order to handle more air traffic, thus allowing Changi Airport to have more efficient usage of its runways.
The airport, located half an hour away from Changi’s, currently handles private flights and training for pilots and was first built in 1929 by the British just before World War Two.
Speaking to the Straits Times, a spokesman for the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore declared the need to optimise Singapore’s air hub capacity. The new Seletar Airport will be accommodating smaller, slower aircrafts.
