The Prawn Star, brought to you by the folks behind Tiong Bahru Bar, is set to open on Friday (Nov. 21) at 21 Duxton Hill.
Almost everywhere you look in that neighbourhood, is a bar or restaurant worth recommending.
We don't fancy being a newcomer here, these folks — Alba 1836, Buyan, Lucha Loco, Sabio, Saha — look like a tough crowd.
But we reckon this cheeky-sounding restaurant will do just fine with its Western-style zi char theme and locavore manifesto.
On top of a laidback, slightly retro decor, The Prawn Star also offers a seafood-centric, bombastic-sounding menu with dishes like grilled king prawns with kimchi-miso butter, calamari yaki udon and lobster poutine.
There's also wood fired whole fish, prawns and blue swimmer crabs, and for the non-seafood lovers, sriracha honey lime chicken leg and the ubiquitous grass-fed ribeye.
