Grieving the passing of a loved one is tough, however you look at it.
It helps to be able to give them a 'proper send-off', but for this family, even that was out of reach.
85-year-old Mr. Soh Kang Gee, was cremated yesterday at the Mandai Crematorium and Columbarium Complex. Reported the Shin Min Daily News, about 30 members of his family turned up for prayers at Viewing Hall 2, where they were told they could see his casket being placed in the furnace.
40 minutes and still no body, the family made an enquiry, and discovered Mr. Soh had been transferred to another furnace.
They rushed to Viewing Hall 1, but it was too late.
The correct furnace was opened, and they managed to verify that the partially burned body was indeed Mr. Soh's.
The crematorium staff have apologised and according to My Paper, the National Environment Agency said it deeply regretted the incident, when contacted.
