A 51-year-old man was arrested within 30 minutes of being reported for snatching an elderly woman's handbag in Holland Drive.
The 82-year-old woman had been walking along a common corridor on Nov. 8 at 2:52pm when the incident happened. The suspect fled, and she went home to seek help from her husband, eventually reporting the matter to the police.
Police obtained detailed descriptions of the suspect from the victim and observed PolCam footage, before conducting a search.
He was picked up along Holland Drive towards the direction of North Buona Vista Road, in possession of the stolen handbag.
He will be charged in court today for Snatch Theft under Section 356 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224, which carries a maximum punishment of seven years in jail and caning.
