NParks plan special lighting along ECP for SG50 celebrations Singapore’s National Parks Board (NParks) is planning a grand welcome for those travelling from Changi Airport next year with special lighting along the 3.4 kilometre stretch of East Coast Parkway as a tribute to SG50, the nation’s jubilee celebrations.  According to the Minister of State for National Development Desmond Lee, NParks plans to “enhance the backbone of our city in a garden” by sprucing up the roadside greenery along five expressways and major roads with additional planting and landscaping along aforementioned lightscapes later on in 2015.  Other plans include a series of free concerts to be held at several areas including Bishan-Ang Mo Kio park, Gardens by the Bay, Singapore Botanic Gardens and more featuring homegrown music talents and performing groups that cater to both young and old.  “We invite you to join us in this shared visionand the exciting line-up of programmes to continue our pioneers’ work of making Singapore a City in a Garden,” Lee concludes.  Photo: DearEdward via Flickr
