An explosion that occurred this morning in Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur has left one car jockey dead and at least 13 people injured.
According to The Malaysian Insider, the victims — including two Singaporeans, one Thai and one Chinese national — were rushed to the Kuala Lumpur Hospital and Tung Shing private hospital.
Police were activated after they received a report about a blast outside a pub at Sun Complex.
“Some of the victims were about to board a Toyota Vellfire when an explosive device fell onto them,” said City deputy CID chief Asst. Comm. Khairi Ahrasa.
The explosion also damaged four other cars nearby: a Toyota Camry, Mazda and BMW.
Police later found a second unexploded device, believed to be a grenade, under the damaged Toyota Camry.
It is believed that the bombs had been thrown from the second floor of the Sun Complex.
Through the New Straits Times, ACP Khairi conjectures this could be the work of gangsters, but assures that the police are analysing this case from all angles.
