IKEA stores in Singapore and all around the world have recalled one of their products after worlwide reports of injuries during usage.
The popular Swedish homeware store has taken their GUNGGUNG children’s swing off the market due to safety concerns. The swing is made of green polyester fabric and hangs from a plastic suspension fitting attached to steel hooks, intended for indoor and outdoor use by children ages three to seven.
According to IKEA, they’ve received reports of incidents showing that the suspension fittings are not up to par in quality, leading to risk of serious injury. A total of four accidents in Germany, Austria and Canada have occurred from playing on the GUNGGUNG swing — one incident involves a child sustaining a fractured leg from falling down.
Reportedly, 87 units of GUNGGUNG swings have been sold in Singapore, but not injuries have been reported so far.
IKEA Singapore has called out for the return of the swings, which will be fully refunded even without a receipt. For more information, contact IKEA Customer Relations at 6786-6868.
