On Monday, police officers retrieved a body from a manhole near Blk 724, Clementi West Street 2 after workers attempting to fix the damaged sewer found the corpse of a 61-year-old man inside, as reported by Stomp.
Residents of the area heard a loud bang at 7pm the night before, but didn’t pay much attention to it until they saw death tents erected some 18 hours later.
Lianhe Wanbao speculated that the victim could have fallen from a tall building. However, according to The New Paper’s interview with a doubtful resident, the manhole's only about 40cm by 30cm wide.
The deceased's believed to be Lee Ming Quan – a Bukit Panjang resident. His Bukit Panjang neighbours reportedly haven’t seen him for years.
Police have classed this as unnatural death.
Investigations are underway.
