One of the rising stars of Singapore's pop-up outdoor market scene is going permanent.
In October, the Chillax Market will launch its 6,900 sq. f. space on the third floor of The Grandstand in Bukit Timah, also the location of mega food emporium Pasarbella.
Said co-founder Nana Stuurman, "After a year of working with small business owners, I noticed that many startups find it difficult to scale the business because of the high rental prices in Singapore. The transition from a pop-up to a permanent market will allow these business owners to have a permanent physical space without the risk of overheads they cannot afford."
The new Chillax Market promises the rustic charm of iconic spots like London's Portobello Market and Paris' Les Puces de Saint-Ouen. It will be outfitted with architectural details from the '50s and dramatic task lighting, envisioned by British firm Elliott James.
The family-friendly destination will feature everything from apparel to high-end home accessories and even children's toys. Among the 30 vendors confirmed are Bowerbird, Chillax Salon and the Modern Eclectic Cafe, which will be furnished by handcrafted Van Thiel.
Chillax Market will also host free interior styling and floral arrangement workshops, as well as launch a free shopping app, when it opens.
