Leslie Low — frontman of Singapore’s avant-rock icons The Observatory and other musical outfits — will be releasing his long-awaited solo album on Sept. 19, and he wants to bring his sombre acoustic folk tunes to you live in your living room.
Put together by local music collective The Diarists, Leslie Low is available to play in a venue of your choice in a highly intimate experience between audience and performer, playing songs from his upcoming album No Such Thing As Ghosts along with tracks from earlier releases. Currently, he’s set to play in three places; Straits Records, the Independent Archive & Resource Centre and a house at Perumal Road. To ensure the allure of intimacy, only 20 tickets can be sold for each show, with a suggested $20 donation per ticket.
Judging from sneak previews, Leslie Low’s new release will be a wholly different sonic (i.e., quieter) affair from his work in The Observatory, but it is by no means less intriguing. The Observatory recently wrapped up a round of shows at The Substation and the Singapore Night Festival to promote their highly-acclaimed album Oscilla, released early last month.
