Thick swirls of black smoke churned over Chinatown when a fire broke out at Pearls Centre earlier this afternoon, Channel NewsAsia (CNA) reports.
Speaking to CNA, the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) revealed the fire broke out at the 10-storey carpark of the building, believed to have been caused by a ventilation system motor.
An SCDF response crew involving two fire engines, two Red Rhinos, two fire bikes, four support vehicles and an ambulance was dispatched at 3.43pm after receiving a call, and the fire was put out quickly with no injuries reported.
Investigations are ongoing.
