Congrats are in order to homegrown furniture and homeware brand, Scene Shang — it now calls a gorgeously minimalistic space in the Kampong Glam area home. Influenced by classic Chinese design elements and heritage, the three-year-old label offers a contemporary twist on tradition, with subtle nods to the culture that inspires it.

Scene Shang's newest collection, titled 'Jia Ju' (which means gathering or coming together at home in Mandarin), features four pieces — a dining table, a chair, a rocking stool and a sideboard. Taking inspiration from the Ming Dynasty aesthetic, these furniture items boast an elegant, modern design, with clean lines and a 'less-is-more' interpretation.

Tanjong Pagar Railway Station

Hands up if you were at the former Tanjong Pagar Railway Station over the last long weekend. If you recall, the Local People hosted a '90s art market on Good Friday, and throngs of people turned up. We're not even kidding about the masses. It's highly unlikely anyone managed to take a picture without random strangers photobombing them — that's how sizeable the crowd was.

So now that we've sweated through one long weekend at the historic monument, we're here to tell you that the best time to go is either early in the morning or towards evening. Please don't turn up at noon and expect to look fabulous in all your photos.

A year ago, 90-year-old Ting Lang Kin had to have her left foot amputated after a gruesome accident at Woodlands Centre Road saw that foot crushed by an SMRT bendy bus. Images of her gored feet — ripped into shreds of blood, flesh and bone — went viral on social media.

What made it more tragic was that the accident transpired when the bus driver drove off as she was still alighting the bus.

53-year-old former SMRT bus driver Lau Pik Choong has since been slapped with a week in jail and a driving ban of 18 months for his negligence, according to various media reports.

A surplus of shop space and not enough shoppers — these pinpoint the crux of the problem faced by downtown malls as the local retail scene slides into a slump. First, the vacancy rates in Orchard area malls hit a five-year high. Now, it seems the Marina Bay area is also struggling.

Even Suntec City, which recently underwent a $410 million revamp over three years, has vast amounts of space but not enough tenants to fill them all. Some sections in the mall are almost empty, what with numerous tenants coming and going at an alarming rate — some close down mere months after opening up shop.

Bali Ngurah Rai Airport’s Customs and Excise Officers arrested a Singaporean national on Tuesday after they found drugs in his luggage.

Officials announced that Mohammad Noh Bin Abdul Salam, 33, was caught carrying sheets of LSD, along with 10 ecstasy pills, according to Merdeka

“The perpetrator was hiding drugs in his bag,” Head of Airport Customs Budi Harjanto said in Kuta on Wednesday.

Salam was arrested shortly after arriving in Bali on AirAsia AK 376 from KL.

The Singaporean had been waiting to take his bag when officers apprehended him—the bag had apparently already been searched and sniffed out by a K-9 unit.

The drugs were hidden in a bag of toiletries, reports said.

So much for luxury shopping.

A recent earnings report revealed that casino revenue at Marina Bay Sands (MBS) plunged 28 percent in the first quarter, while mall revenue decreased 2 percent. Hotel room revenue also slipped, sliding down 0.8 percent even as MBS tried their darnedest to pull in the riches by employing football/fashion star David Beckham as their ambassador

Las Vegas Sands Corp. — who owns MBS along with casino-hotels in Macau — has reportedly held preliminary talks with prospective buyers of the MBS mall, says Inside Retail Asia

Flight safety instructions sure didn't include a part about delivering a baby on a plane, but crew members of Jetstar Asia managed to handle one after departing from Changi Airport.

In commemoration of the unique childbirth, the mother even named the newborn baby boy Saw Jet Star, who holds the title as the first baby to be delivered on a Jetstar Asia flight. We foresee a lot of questions and regret over his name in the future.

Saw Jet Star was delivered safely onboard flight 3K583 by a team of three doctors and crew members when the plane landed in Yangon last Friday, with both mother and son in good health after being discharged from a local hospital. The boy may also be the youngest person to be endorsed by the budget airline, receiving $1,000 worth of baby supplies from Jetstar Asia.
